Week 7 Term 1 2022

This week we have an important day in the church with St. Joesph's day. We also see the Luck of the Irish come visit on St. Patrick's day, I encourage the kids to wear an accessory to celebrate as Mrs. Dinniss's mate may make a repeat appearance and I would hate for him to play any tricks on kids who didn't wear any green. (uniforms are still mandatory ). Fall seems to have snuck in with today being cooler, because we have been spending alot of time in our outside classroom and when in the classroom with all the windows and fans on children will need a jersey in the mornings. Please make sure that your childs name is on it. A huge thank you to the kids who have gotten into the habit of wearing masks inside, hand sanitising and wiping down the tables before each break and home time.

This week's CREW value was Respect again. We were looking for a member of our class that model respect, they use kind words, lookout for people who need help and are always there when someone is in need. Last week Aiden M. (R14) and Zique (R12) received these respect awards. We are on the lookout for two people for Week 7 who model 'Excellence' for this week's awards. We are looking especially for people who give their personal best at all times, are listening and are in the green zone.

This Weeks Learning

Literacy: Ways to plan. We will be looking at a variety of planning options and how with a plan we can write in sequence. At home, you could share how you plan out your day, month, goals etc. Also to revisit past concepts have your tamariki retell instructions, a t.v. programme or their reading that they do with you.

Numeracy: We are continuing to build our knowledge of place value. We will also look at how we can collect, sort, display and analyze information (statistics).

Religious Education: WALHT understand how Joseph responded to God's plan and showed grace. We will also be running the St. Josephs liturgy this week on Thursday.

This is a nice little tie to our work around our CREW values, too.

Te Reo Māori : we are still working on our numbers to rua tekau and learning our pepeha's.

Covid Update

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive and patient with us. PLEASE, let us know if you get a positive result in your home - we have guidelines that we must follow AND we'd like to be able to check in and make sure that you're ok.

****Extension to COVID-19 hardship assistance for whānau****

The Government has extended the increased income limits for hardship assistance until Thursday 30 June. This means more casual or part-time workers, or people who aren’t already getting financial support, will continue to be eligible for help with their immediate or emergency costs. This is especially important for those who need direct help as part of the COVID-19 welfare response.

People new to MSD can check these links to see the new income limits:

Special Needs Grant – includes Essential costs like food, bedding, health travel costs, driver licence; Emergency costs like dental and medical treatments.
