Swimming starts this Monday Sunday 27th of February 2022  I'm not too sure where this month has gone, just like the leaves on the trees. Fall has suddenly shown up with cooler nights and stunning days. I hope you are keeping safe, if you find yourself or a family member needing to isolate please let the school know, as we have set up a home learning pack that can be used. We were able to celebrate Mass together on Friday. I heard lots of comments from children saying it was so cool being outside for this celebration. Father now has the idea that he could have his Easter Mass in the same spot. This Wednesday starts the season of Lent and Ash Wednesday Liturgies, we will be creating Lenten promises please ask your tamariki what there's are and how you can help them to achieve. Covid Update: We have had two positive tests in our school this past week. We ask parents that if their child is unwell they must stay home. Library 2022

We finally made it to the Library. Our time will be every Monday after morning tea. Students were asked to take out 3 library books. One for personal reading (chapter book), they then were able to choose two others for reading. The expectation is that students are reading for at least 20mins 5 nights a week. This can look different in each home. Could be silent reading, being read too, listening to a story. Asking questions about what they are reading is also very helpful. Check out this great reading.

Sunday, 20 February 2022 Week 4 Term 1 2022 The Year 4 tribe is an awesome group of kids. We have had weeks filled with laughter and smiles and are really loving working with this little team. It’s going to be a great year. We completed a B.P. Challenge this week to build the longest and strongest bridge. The challenge taught us many things about working together as a team. We also had our winner of the class reading draw - Indie was able to go on Thursday with Mrs. Dinniss to have lunch. Can't wait until next term to see who wins. On Friday we went to mass. Father was so happy to see all of the children in the Church again. We had a strong message from Father that even though we can't see God he is always there for us, that through prayer we can become closer to him. This Weeks Learning Maths: Place Value.  Literacy: How ideas are organised in writing. RE: What is special about our church community? How can we be active members of our community? Week Two Highlights

What a great week getting to know each other, setting up routines and learning about how school 2022 might look.  The children did a great job keeping their masks on dispute the muggy heat we had. The class and I discussed what we thought we would need to set up a classroom outside. Next week weather permitting we will have a gazebo and picnic tables to work on just outside our classroom. We have set up a prayer roster and each student will work as a team for a week leading in prayers. Please have your child make sure that their Chromebook is charged as we will start some assessments this next week.  We played many new games and learned about cooperation/teamwork. For Golden time we played my favorite game dodge ball. The kids thought a lot about strategy and even managed to take out a convincing win against Room 14 on Friday. Here are a few of the highlights, unfortunately, I didn't think about photos often.

13/02/22 Kia ora, Welcome to week 3! We had a wonderful start to the year last week with students excited to be back. This weekend, it felt like we might be experiencing the first signs of fall with the rain, cooler temps and leaves falling. Let's hope mother nature allows us a little more summer in the weeks to come.  We will be starting some of our required testing this week to give us an indication as to where your tamariki is since the end of last year. We will be starting up with our maths, writing and reading programmes over the week and encourage you to talk to your child about what they have been doing in class. Maths - We will be looking at addition and subtraction. A fun game for the car is to have the kids ask you math questions, sometimes answer correctly sometimes wrong see if they can catch you a point for the person who guesses correctly. start at first with simple questions to 10 5+5=10, 4+3=7, 9-5=4 try and answer as quickly as possible.
