Sunday, 21 August 2022 Week 5 Term 3 2022 I am sorry this is so late, I got to spend the day watching some of our kids in R12 &14 play rugby. Was amazing and I managed to get too much sun. YES, that's right too much sun. Unfortunately, it's not going to last looking at the forecast for the week which means dress appropriately.  This week  Monday:  LIBRARY,  Dance with Mrs Trask Tuesday: Wednesday: T ough Guy/Gal challenge, cake stall at morning tea time. Thursday:  Dance with Mrs Trask (make up session), Chess tournament Friday: Poetry class recital  Literacy:  We will be looking into different types of poetry this week as we will be taking part in the Kahikatea poetry recital.   Room 12 - Poetry Recital 2022   The kids have been working hard to learn their poems, we have spoken about projecting your voice and using expression.  When learning their poems we videoed them so they could check their eye contact and stance. We don't want dancers unless it's part of their poems. Congratulations to the students who kicked off our poetry recital on Friday we had some excellent poems. We are planning to get through a couple more on Monday and Tuesday.  We will award our class winners on Tuesday and Thursday they will represent our class in a poetry recital at the senior speech competition. When giving a poem I will be looking for clear, expressive voices, good eye contact, and stance, nice rhythm and a touch of personality to hook the audience.

Week 4 Term 3 2022 What a glorious weekend, I hope you were able to get outside and enjoy the sun.  Congratulations to our daily winners for the maths Challenges put out last week by Mrs. Dinniss. We were only able to give out one of the large Lollipops to Vedick who was able to tie with Mrs. Dinniss on Thursday's math challenge. When I am finally back in the classroom on Thursday I have one last team challenge for you that we were unable to do on Friday with Mass and Mary Mackillop day. I was so proud of the way you conducted yourself at the activities well-done R12.  Congratulations to all of our Under 9 rugby players as they wrapped up a very good season of rugby. Mrs. Dinniss also wrapped up her Saturday netball with a win. We have a very messy week with a lot of relievers in. On Monday children will be going to a variety of teachers in the senior school as I will be attending the Year5/6 Cultural day at Aquinus. This will give the kids a bit of a look at possible teachers fo

Week 3 Term 3 2022   It's Maths Week this week! Maths is all around us - shopping, cooking, addresses and maps, building, arts and crafts, cooking, knitting, ... We are so used to maths being there that we don't often stop and think about the skills and knowledge we use just getting through a day. Invite your children into a  maths discussion  doing everyday tasks - it will be an eye opener for both of you.  Congratulations to Bourneton and Fraser for their wicked dance moves that won R 12 a large jar of Nutella and a pizza. This week we also celebrate the   feast day of Mary Mackillop . Mary is particularly special to us. She saw the need for a school in Rotorua and set about making that happen. Over 100 years later we are still going strong. Our  Year 3-4 classes will be leading the mass on Friday  and you are most welcome to join us. We will also be having a fun day with the Y4-6s - there are lots of random and fun activities planned. Mr Macmillan reminded staff that Mary

For the past two weeks we have been learning about 2d and 3d shapes and coordinates.  Please get kids to give you directions using forward, backward, left and right. If you want to have some fun making up a battleship game there are lots online. We have also started learning about fractions. A fraction is a part of a whole. If you have a chance to do some cooking this weekend have the kids read the amounts. Very cool our dancing Kings Bourneton and Fraser won the Jar of Nutella for morning toast. While traveling this weekend see if your child can identify some 2d and 3d shapes. On Wednesday morning we will be going to the Rotorua Museum for a field trip to learn about the history of the Glenholme area. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to come along. Mrs. Mathis, Mrs. Grant, Mrs. Taylor, and Mrs. Squibb. I appreciate all the people who volenteered
