Week 2 --------Where Did You Go

Image
Wow, what a full-on week!  A few highlights from the week were seeing how much fun the kids had at athletics. Everyone had such a great attitude and try hard attitude. We also had a very fun day today with our Grandparents and special friends coming to spend mass with us. Thank you for the shared morning tea, we had a lovely healthy spread as well as some special treats. I lost my phone for most of the day, but did get a few photos from the Andrew Chinn session. I think it would be fair to say R12 won the most prizes so well done. We swim all week next week. As the team from Swimsation is in, we will be swimming first every morning so if kids want to wear their togs to school under their uniforms that would be fine.

Heart Rates - Steps = Healthy Lifestyles  Today we started our walk around the world. For the next 30 days, children will record their steps over a 24-hour period. We will record our steps at 9 am each day. Together we are challenging other children across New Zealand to walk.  We came up with a question - Do we have more steps when we walk or run around the field?   All the kids came up with a hypothesis or I think statement and then recorded our steps walking and running.  16 of the 27 students here today thought running would have more steps.  The conclusion we came up with was that walking actually gave you more steps. But our heart rate increased when we ran.   Brae’s maths- 763 steps - 232 steps already on his monitor = 531 steps walking 987 running steps - 763 already on his monitor= 224 steps running.   We also looked at how to take our heart rate. We counted how many beats for 30s and then doubled it. Indie resting heart rate = 48 beats per minute (24 in 30s) After her run
