Week 7 Term 2 2022

What a wet and wild weekend. Please know that there is a viral bug going through the school, if your child is unwell please keep them at home. We will have a busy week this week with lots on. I will be testing on Monday with the children and out of the classroom on Wednesday (or Friday) for Ripper Rugby. Have a great week.


Young Vinnies Talent Quest
The Young Vinnies have finalized the best talent and it will be showcased Monday at 9:15. Good luck to all participants. 

Matariki Liturgy
On Thursday, we will celebrate the Matariki liturgy. Matariki is an important time in New Zealand, it is the start of the Māori New Year festival and is marked by the rising of the star cluster Matariki (Pleiades).

Our Learning

Literacy: Narratives. Māori New Year festival marked by rising of the star cluster Matariki (Pleiades

Maths: Multiplication. We are learning how skip counting, repeated addition and using known facts can help us solve multiplication problems.

RE: We are learning that Jesus calls us to holiness and wholeness in the teaching of the Salt and Light.
(Mt 5:13-16). We will also be learning about/celebrating Pentecost.

Structured Literacy: Mrs D's groups are working on the 'er, it, ur' blend this week and next. These spelling rules will also be linked to learning when reading and writing.

Welcome to Room 12 2022

  Welcome Back! I am very excited to be coming back in 2022, to Room 12. I hope you have all had a great break and are ready to get back into school. A little background into myself for those of you that don't know me. I was born and raised in Alberta Canada. I have been living in New Zealand for 16 years. My three boys and I have been calling Rotorua home for the past 7 years. I love to camp, play all sports and spend time with my boys on our farm. I am looking forward to all the adventures that 2022 will bring. I am a firm believer in reading at home, for the most part, this is the only ask I will have for my students in the form of homework. Reading at home can look different for each person. You could have someone read a book to you, you can listen to audiobooks, read online/device or read to someone else.   The School Fun Run is all about FUN! October 21 2022 Get behind the school and help us reach our goal.  This is replacing the Gala Day this year. How Does My Child Fundraise? Firstly, go to schoolfunrun.co.nz and create a student profile page. Everything to do with your fundraising revolves around this page. Share the page with family and friends ( Facebook, Email or text ) and let the fundraising begin.  The children can offer to do a chore, help in some way to exchange for sponsorship.  The children can have fun watching their page evolve, collect stickers, earn badges and see the leaderboard. Students who raise just $10 will be able to choose a prize! The more they raise, the better their reward – you will find the full range in your sponsorship form.  WIN  JUICY’S FOR THE CLASS The class who has the most profiles by Friday 16th will receive Juicy’s.   Winners will have the Juicy’s delivered to their class on Monday 20 September.
