Maths - Term 3

 For the past two weeks we have been learning about 2d and 3d shapes and coordinates.  Please get kids to give you directions using forward, backward, left and right. If you want to have some fun making up a battleship game there are lots online.

We have also started learning about fractions. A fraction is a part of a whole. If you have a chance to do some cooking this weekend have the kids read the amounts.

Very cool our dancing Kings Bourneton and Fraser won the Jar of Nutella for morning toast.

While traveling this weekend see if your child can identify some 2d and 3d shapes.

On Wednesday morning we will be going to the Rotorua Museum for a field trip to learn about the history of the Glenholme area. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to come along. Mrs. Mathis, Mrs. Grant, Mrs. Taylor, and Mrs. Squibb. I appreciate all the people who volenteered

  Welcome Back! I am very excited to be coming back in 2022, to Room 12. I hope you have all had a great break and are ready to get back into school. A little background into myself for those of you that don't know me. I was born and raised in Alberta Canada. I have been living in New Zealand for 16 years. Reading at home can look different for each person. You could have someone read a book to you, you can listen to audiobooks, read online/device or read to someone else. Week 3 - Term 1 - 2022

  13/02/22 Kia ora, Welcome to week 3! We had a wonderful start to the year last week with students excited to be back. This weekend, it felt like we might be experiencing the first signs of fall with the rain, cooler temps and leaves falling. Let's hope mother nature allows us a little more summer in the weeks to come.  We will be starting some of our required testing this week to give us an indication as to where your tamariki is since the end of last year. We will be starting up with our maths, writing and reading programmes over the week and encourage you to talk to your child about what they have been doing in class. Maths - We will be looking at addition and subtraction. A fun game for the car is to have the kids ask you math questions, sometimes answer correctly sometimes wrong see if they can catch you a point for the person who guesses correctly. start at first with simple questions to 10 5+5=10, 4+3=7, 9-5=4 try and answer as quickly as possible.
