Room 12 - Poetry Recital 2022 

The kids have been working hard to learn their poems, we have spoken about projecting your voice and using expression. 

When learning their poems we videoed them so they could check their eye contact and stance. We don't want dancers unless it's part of their poems.

Congratulations to the students who kicked off our poetry recital on Friday we had some excellent poems. We are planning to get through a couple more on Monday and Tuesday. 


We will award our class winners on Tuesday and Thursday they will represent our class in a poetry recital at the senior speech competition. When giving a poem I will be looking for clear, expressive voices, good eye contact, and stance, nice rhythm and a touch of personality to hook the audience.

  Welcome Back! I am very excited to be coming back in 2022, to Room 12. I hope you have all had a great break and are ready to get back into school. A little background into myself for those of you that don't know me. I was born and raised in Alberta Canada. I have been living in New Zealand for 16 years. My three boys and I have been calling Rotorua home for the past 7 years. I love to camp, play all sports and spend time with my boys on our farm. I am looking forward to all the adventures that 2022 will bring. I am a firm believer in reading at home, for the most part, this is the only ask I will have for my students in the form of homework. Reading at home can look different for each person. You could have someone read a book to you, you can listen to audiobooks, read online/device or read to someone else. Week 3 - Term 1 - 2022

  13/02/22 Kia ora, Welcome to week 3! We had a wonderful start to the year last week with students excited to be back. This weekend, it felt like we might be experiencing the first signs of fall with the rain, cooler temps and leaves falling. Let's hope mother nature allows us a little more summer in the weeks to come.  We will be starting some of our required testing this week to give us an indication as to where your tamariki is since the end of last year. We will be starting up with our maths, writing and reading programmes over the week and encourage you to talk to your child about what they have been doing in class. Maths - We will be looking at addition and subtraction. A fun game for the car is to have the kids ask you math questions, sometimes answer correctly sometimes wrong see if they can catch you a point for the person who guesses correctly. start at first with simple questions to 10 5+5=10, 4+3=7, 9-5=4 try and answer as quickly as possible.
